Genome Variation in Precision Medicine 2019

May 25-27, 2019
Marriott Nanjing South Hotel, Nanjing, China

Recent progress in genetic discovery, fuelled by novel technologies and analytical approaches as well as the establishment of population-based mega-biobanks, has led to unprecedented understanding of the human genome, both in breadth and depth.

The aim of this conference is to discuss how scientists and clinicians can best leverage this knowledge to identify individuals at risk of diseases with more precision, to discern promising therapeutic strategies and to match these therapies to people and populations most likely to benefit from them.

This year we focus on the two largest categories of complex disease morbidity - cardiovascular disease and cancer - and we hope to bring together statistical genetics and translational research to explore how individual and population level genetic variation influence health and disease.

We will begin with a workshop on the translation of genetic epidemiology into precision medicine and how best to use mutation detection and polygenic risk scores in clinical decision making, with an emphasis on cardiovascular diseases. We will further examine the genomics of reproduction, and specifically single cell approaches to investigate early embryonic development and the reprogramming of cells for regenerative medicine. The last session will focus on how genomics and epigenomics can inform targeted therapies designed to exploit mechanistic vulnerabilities in cancer.
